Why financial help is important?

Mari, an open-minded Roma woman in her forties, radiates serenity and confidence even though Life has tested her really hard.  A woman with a characteristic face, she is infinitely skinny:  she can’t weigh more than 45 to 50 kilos. She carries an entire Roma family on her fragile shoulders: five(!) young children, a long-term sick husband (who also works alongside his illness) and her own father who is also in need of care.  (We happen to know, that when Mari’s sister was put into jail, some years ago, it was Mari who took care of her two minor children as well.  A most amazing woman, certainly!

From all of her siblings Mari is the only one, that is clean and diligent. Also, she is the one that has faith.  This explains her inner strength and radiance. She is living in an examplary way, showing us all how to practice self-sacrifice on a daily level.  Her children are well taken care of. She also puts up with her sickly husband patiently and also finds energy to look after her own father.

The low sum the family receives as allowance plus the income she gets for occassional jobs ( cleaning mostly)  do not alow Mari and family to live a fair life, paying rent, buy utilities, medicine and school supplies.

Being a Christian sister to us she regularly participates with her family in the events and summer camps of our New Jerusalem Catholic Community. Please, if you have the opportunity,  support  Mari in her daily struggle to keep the family together. She really deserves it!
