We strive to provide individual help for all homeless and needy people, from the reception desk to meals and pastoral care.
We offer our guests 3+1 major areas of service:
(1) basic services, i.e. everything that a shelter is obliged to provide; (2) social and charitable services, i.e. casework and charitable assistance through a social worker; (3) spiritual, psychological and community support, providing professional care and a sense of belonging; (4) support programmes based on specific criteria.

Our team is available every weekday (except holidays) from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at our centre on the corner of Király and Izabella streets in the 6th district of Budapest.

We have set up our Mustard Seed grant (loan-like) scheme to help with housing, business start-up, schooling and job entry. It is for people struggling with homelessness to make a positive life change through occasional financial support. The programme also includes the development of a support plan, which we will help the person who has been awarded the grant to implement.
This form of loan-type support is only available through an application process and is decided upon by a professional team. Applications will be assessed within 14 working days of submission.
The conditions for submitting and receiving an application are as follows: Housing Starting a business Completion of school Help starting a job
This form of support includes financial assistance for the purchase of medicines and health products, the arrangement of medicine purchases themselves, in addition to reception services. Up to a monthly budget of HUF 5 000 per person, we can provide support to the eligible poor.
This program is reserved for people who are homeless and/or unable to afford their own essential medicines.
Applications for support can be submitted every weekday between 9am and 2pm.
Specific conditions for applying:
You can pick up your prescription in person or with a written authorization.
Medicines (if the prescription has been dispensed by 10am on the day) can be collected between 1pm and 2pm on the same day.
For prescriptions dispensed after 10am, the medicine can be collected at our reception desk on the next working day.
In our programme, we provide financial support for a limited period of time to individuals and families who are unable to maintain and create decent living conditions without help.
This type of support is only available through an application process. Applications will be assessed by a professional team within 14 working days of submission. The successful applicant will be notified. The conditions for submitting and receiving an application are as follows:
Helping homeless people in need of hospitalization or rehabilitation treatment with the most basic hygiene facilities, so that the lack of these does not hinder the start of treatment. We also call it the hospital package.
The necessary hospital package is prepared in close cooperation with our social worker colleague, after prior consultation.
This form of support is named after the story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10,25-37). We try to tailor this hospital package to suit personal needs:, even if someone has special requirements, in order to help with hospitalization and recovery.
The Előszoba (“Anteroom”) Program is a step-by-step preparation process aimed at achieving existential and spiritual reintegration. It was created for those who are in the initial stage of “getting back on their feet” and have decided to commit to regular cooperation with our Service through a cooperation agreement.
We call it Előszoba (Anteroom) because it provides the opportunity to move on to further stages of recovery (e.g., starting rehabilitation, entering employment, or joining the Karolj fel! program).
The process involves regular consultations where our mental health and social work colleagues identify difficulties or possible crisis situations; afterwards, they provide support in taking practical steps. In organizing life, we strive to address all necessary areas, with special emphasis on health care and financial (debt-related) aspects. Case management is personalized, taking into account the individual’s pace of progress, current vulnerabilities, and transgenerational background.
It is also important to mention that our professional cooperation is complemented by the work of our volunteer lawyer, as well as programs offered by other recovery-supporting organizations and movements (e.g., New Jerusalem Catholic Community; Catholic Alcohol Rescue Service). Thus, a mutual and active collaboration is realized, where we focus on building trust and ensuring consistent professional and spiritual accompaniment.
By expressing a willingness to cooperate to the responsible colleagues, followed by a few introductory meetings, after which a cooperation agreement is concluded.
